The Rainbow Bridge

Sun Nov 5, 2006, 2:28 PM
Somewhere over the rainbow,
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby...

This community is for all animal lovers to reach out to one another and share works of art made in honor of loved pets at the Rainbow Bridge. In memory of my dog/best friend/special baby Billy and our sweet little cat Milo, who left for Rainbow Bridge only three days apart from each other, I've made this group. I've found it has been very helpful to talk to others who understand how painful this is and can help one another in knowing they're not alone.

Since drawing and artwork have always been fantastic ways to express emotions and make special dedications, I thought this community would do many people and myself some good.

You don't even have to add any works to join this group, just leave a message or send a note and I'll add you. If you'd like, feel free to post a paragraph or so on your special animal(s) as a comment in this journal. This entry will not change, except to add new members' icons.

Rules:

You may upload anything relating to your animals here, be it a picture you drew, a sculpture you made, photographs you took, anything! So long as you made it and it's of your pet/pets.

You can add works that include other pets in your family who are still Earthbound too, but make sure the Bridge pet is in there with them.

All animals are welcome, everything that walks, runs, gallops, swims, flies or crawls. Dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, lizards, pigs, anything. Pets of all shapes and sizes, no creature is turned away at Rainbow Bridge.

PS: If you'd like to read about Billy and Milo's stories, check out my Family page at Dogster/Catster here: [link] Dogster and Catster are wonderful sites where you can make a special page for your pet, be it a simple profile for an Earthbound pet or a tribute for a Rainbow Bridge pet.

To Billy and Milo: May you run free over the rainbow, I love you always and forever.

If you don't mind, I would like to join. I'm very grief-stricken over the death of my beloved squirrel, Runt. I had raised him from a helpless Pinky. He was only 5 months old.

I can't believe I'm back so soon. My precious baby Cosette, 10 years old, passed away last night.

"When I became convinced that the universe is natural, that all the ghosts and gods are myths, there entered into my brain, into my soul, into every drop of my blood the sense, the feeling, the joy of freedom."

Our family used to have five cats. One was Tetsie, who I didn't know. She passed away before I was born. The next was Mr. Malone, a sweet gray and white cat. He was attacked by a raccoon and his horrible death was... he got his throat ripped out. And then there is William, who died of old age. Sulfer, he got liver cancer and was put down.

It's been awhile since I've been here...but I just wanted to let you know that another one of my babies has crossed the bridge...my little dog Cujo passed away suddenly this afternoon. He was 11 years old, and had been unwell the past few months, so it wasn't unexpected, but still painful.
